Sustainability is an integral part of my practice as a designer. To me, creating purposeful and long lasting objects is crucial and the only way that I can justify this path that I have chosen for myself. I also believe that clothes need to be fun in order to last. Searching our closets should ignite a sense of happiness and playfulness. If we look more at getting dressed as a way of dressing up, of manifesting who we want to be in this world, of having fun; I believe we will form more meaningful and long lasting bonds with our clothes. And thus, they will last us longer. An aesthetically long lasting object isn’t necessarily equal to a muted one. Colors and patterns and interesting textures can last us just as long if we understand how to use them. This is my obsession: To better understand how we can use unexpected and surprising elements in sustainable and long lasting fashion.
